It can also be extracted directly from the plant, which is how commercially-sold resin is produced. If you’ve smoked cannabis from a pipe or bong before, you’re familiar with resin - it’s the dark, sticky substance that accumulates in your smoking device over time. Professional-grade shatter uses highly specialized equipment, so please do not attempt to make your own cannabis extracts at home. Note: shatter and other types of butane hash oil are extremely dangerous to make at home and have resulted in several explosions. Shatter is typically made using butane or hydrocarbon (which is how it achieves its glass-like appearance) and contains between 70-80% THC. ![]() Shatter gets its name from its delicate consistency - it can quite literally shatter if you aren’t careful. It’s also super versatile in nature: you can smoke it, vape it, add it to an edible, or dab it. ![]() This means that the process does not involve or use any foreign substances. Unlike the other cannabis concentrates on this list, extracting rosin is a solventless technique. Rosin is produced by drying and curing cannabis flower, dry sift kief, or hash then removing the THC-rich resin concentrate through a combo of heat and pressure. It’s generally drier and more crumbly than budder. If you’re new to cannabis concentrates, wax might be a good place to start. Unlike shatter, it doesn’t shatter and is thicker than oil, so it’s pretty easy to use. Wax has been agitated during the extraction process, causing the oil to crystallize and solidify into a thick, malleable, and waxy consistency. It might sound gross, but if what you’re holding in your hand looks like ear wax.it’s cannabis wax! Wax is usually smoked using a dab rig but can also be vaped. They’re all a far more potent form of cannabis, so responsible dosing is key. In short, you can almost think of concentrates as a more intense flower. To put that into perspective: cannabis flower typically has 10-25% THC content, while the THC in concentrate products can go up to 80% (or more!) Like concentrated orange juice, this means that the THC content is much higher in concentrates than in flower. In short, they are all a concentrated form of cannabis. What are cannabis concentrates?īefore you can understand the differences between wax, rosin, shatter, and resin, it’s important that you understand what they all are. But first, we’ll give you the 411 on what you need to know about concentrates. We hope to help you understand the differences between the four most common types of concentrates through this guide. But venturing into the world of concentrates can be confusing (and dangerous/illegal if you plan to make your own - as of June 2021, making homemade cannabis concentrates is illegal in virtually every state.) Plus, between wax, rosin, shatter, and resin, there’s a lot of new vocabulary to learn! Whether you’re a long-time medical cannabis patient or just recently received your MMCC card, you’ve probably heard people talk about concentrates.

Weight loss: First things first, green tea contains properties that can help to increase your metabolic rate and burn fat in a short time. It has been used to improve mental sharpness and it has helped with circulation. Indeed, the Chinese have been using tea for its health benefits for centuries. Modern research has suggested that this type of tea has a lot of health benefits including antioxidants and lower levels of caffeine. The Ming Dynasty lasted from 14th through the 17th century AD and accounted for a great deal of development and innovation in the growing and brewing of tea. It was however, during the Ming Dynasty that the drinking of tea became more than simply a royal or higher class activity. This amazing tea became a trade-good eventually, sought after for its delicate taste and health giving benefits, and found its way around the world. In the early 1400s BC, Chinese seamen roamed the seas and took with them their green tea to ward off the illnesses that plagued European sailors, such as scurvy. However, following the fall of the Mongolian Empire back in 1368 AD, the whole population of China began to experience the wonderful consumption of tea, including the much-prized green tea. It helps that many of the maps feature lots of buildings in which infantry can attack from the safety of cover. Right now, there's no effective way to counter how quickly they can mobilize a considerable army capable to taking out infantry or vehicles. The jury's still out as to whether these three sides are balanced, but you can almost guarantee one of the early patches will tone down China's early rush potential. Rather than employing expensive resource-gathering trucks (China) or helicopters (the U.S.), they have swarms of workers who double as construction units. Unlike the U.S., they have no airpower and no easy way to keep an eye on the map, but their tunnels and camouflage afford them the opportunity to mount devastating surprise attacks. They can salvage destroyed enemies for money and upgrades. They require a certain amount of stealth and patience. Even if you can write it off as being "just a game," it's hard to believe all this is from the same company who felt the need to change the artwork on their Red Alert 2 boxes in the aftermath of 9/11.īut the GLA is mainly interesting for the gameplay mechanics. You have Arab terrorists with car bombs and truck bombs (the nightclub bombing in Bali and the embassy attack in Kenya), Arab suicide bombers with explosives strapped to their bodies (the Palestinian attacks in Israel), Arabs researching anthrax and biotoxin delivery systems (Iraqi attempts to develop weapons of mass destruction), Arabs avoiding destruction by using tunnels and hiding in caves (al-Qaeda troops in Afghanistan), and angry ululating mobs of Arabs wielding AK-47s (the events in Mogadishu recounted in Blackhawk Down). There are elements of the GLA that clearly reflect recent events. The GLA is the most interesting side, partly for Electronic Arts' blunt disregard for how this might be inappropriate subject matter. Eventually, China can bring to bear monster tanks and fearsome napalm weaponry. They have computer hackers who can steal money or quickly subvert enemy buildings and units. China, on the other hand, excels at amassing hordes of cheap units and improving their capabilities with bonuses. Their superior intelligence capabilities and flexible air force allow them to strike quickly anywhere on the map. Generals is built on a solid game design that revolves around three unique sides, each with a distinctive look and feel: the United States, China, and Arab terrorists with the sanitized moniker of "Global Liberation Army." The United States has powerful and expensive units, including well-armed infantry and vehicles that can heal themselves. If you're looking for a story, you're in the wrong place. ![]() There are some clever scripted moments in some of these, but they're mainly excuses to gradually fold in each side's unique units and capabilities. Instead, you get the game engine used to create some fairly clunky cutscenes for each of the three sides' campaigns, which consists of a handful of loosely related missions. There are no cinematics with pre-rendered cities being destroyed by blimps or live action sequences of Kari Wuhrer in a low-cut tank top leaning over a tabletop. Unlike the previous games, Generals eschews Red Alert's silly time-traveling storylines and Command & Conquer's overblown chronicle of the battle between Nod and the GDI. Generals is weighed down by its own unique problems that are new to the series. Like Westwood's real-time strategy games, there's a lot of flash here, some of the same old interface problems, and more than enough "yee-haw!" enthusiasm to make up for any shortcomings. Although Generals wasn't created by Westwood (EA Pacific developed this one), you'd never notice. Westwood Studios might be dead, but their legacy is alive and well with Command & Conquer: Generals, the latest title in the long-running series. The single-player campaign features over two dozen missions and multiplayer options support both competitive and cooperative online skirmishes. As players gain experience, they become more powerful and choose new skills and abilities. Players choose to lead the armies of one of three factions: the high-tech United States forces, the swarming war machine of the Chinese, or the resourceful Global Liberation Army. Command & Conquer: Generals was developed by EA Pacific, an Electronic Arts studio that began as a division of the series' original developers Westwood, but Generals is set in its own 3D game world. Take the role of a great general and lead your forces to war in a world on the brink of Armageddon. ![]() I import the scene obj / FBX to retopo room > I may need to devide the object as 7 poly/retopo groups in retopo room to keep material groups. Not having a DVR means you don’t have any recourse for disappearing shows or rules against ad-skipping. And when you launch these programs, you’ll often get a message saying you’re not allowed to fast forward through commercials. The NBC show This is Us, for instance, offers every episode on demand, but The Good Place (also on NBC) only covers the current season. In lieu of DVR, Spectrum provides an on-demand video catalog, but the selection you’ll get for any given program is a crapshoot. Spectrum’s hardware alone could cost you more than the actual TV service. For multi-room DVR, the cost climbs to $35 with two boxes, and $7.50 for each additional box after that. You can rent a DVR box instead of using Spectrum’s apps, but just a single box will set you back an extra $20.50 per month. Spectrum TV Choice’s biggest drawback is its lack of DVR service for streaming devices. Perusing Spectrum’s on-demand menu means running into a lot of programs and episodes you can’t watch. Still, using a bunch of disparate apps is less convenient than having everything in one place. These apps don’t have the same viewing restrictions, and some of them even support 60-frames-per-second video. The good news is that you can use Spectrum TV Choice to log into individual network apps, such as ESPN and Fox Now. You’ll need to do a lot of scrolling just to find things that you’re allowed to watch, and the whole exercise feels like an upsell to a proper cable package. Worst of all, Spectrum’s on-demand menus continue to list content from channels you don’t pay for, as signified with a key icon. Many live channels don’t work on mobile devices, and the app doesn’t work at all on TV devices. Your ability to use Spectrum’s service outside the home is also limited. ![]() Oddly enough, some channels did support 60 frames per second when I tried Spectrum TV Choice last year, but they no longer do. ![]() Video quality was limited to 30 frames per second on every channel I tested, meaning you won’t get smooth motion for live sports, news, and talk shows.Spectrum’s apps work well on a basic level, but they do have a few annoyances and limitations: Roku’s mini-guide makes channel-flipping easy. Folks who have cable TV from Spectrum already may have trouble switching to TV Choice, though I’ve heard of instances where existing customers have been able to switch. You’ll proceed through a menu where you can pick your 10 channels and select optional premium networks. If you’re not already getting TV service from Spectrum, signing up for TV Choice is simple: Just log into Spectrum’s website, select Add TV, and then select Spectrum TV Choice from the list of plans. ImageOptim can losslessly compress images to make them more accessible.Įven within developed countries, their is a huge number of people who have limited, expensive access to the internet: mobile users. When you are designing content for the internet, like animated GIFs, you should consider such users. Their connections are often slow and expensive. They don’t always have the luxury of fast, affordable internet access. Millions of new people gain access to the internet every year, the vast majority of them in developing countries. The issue is that plenty of people aren’t accessing the internet using a fast connection. It might take a second or two but you’ll barely notice. A GIF can be ten times the file size of an identical movie file. Why Compress Gifs?Īs I touched on above, GIF files tend to run large. Let’s look at how to compress animated GIFs without crushing them. Most GIFs you see online are either ludicrously large files or horribly compressed. Creating a compressed GIF with good detail, then, requires some thought. The only reason GIFs continue to be so successful is that the format allows animation. The GIF format, however, is not as good at compression as JPEG or PNG. Reaction GIFs are some of the most popular memes. With the success of sites like Tumblr and Reddit, they’re an art form in themselves. GIFs have moved beyond a primitive, soundless video format. Widespread broadband has led to video streaming in the last decade but, before that, the only way to easily share moving images was using GIFs. JPEGs are more or less a continuation of traditional photography, but GIFs are something new and powerful. Animated GIFs, more than any other digital image format, have become ingrained in online culture. |
